Monday, May 19, 2025, at 7:45 p.m. in the hall of the Co-Cathedral of Christ the Savior
A biographical comic book introduces the priest and poet Alojz Kocjančič.
The authors of the book, writer and Slavic scholar Ines Cergol, and art teacher, cartoonist and comic book artist Matej Kocjan – Koco, both professors at the Koper Gymnasium, will participate.
The comic book Plapolanje skale illuminates the coastal area from Istria to the Soča River in the years 1923 – 1937 and also acquaints readers with the socio-political conditions of the time, which fatally marked Primorska.
That today the hymn verses Vstala Primorska si sam novje svih svet, svet svet svet svet svet svet svet… are freely sung, thanks above all to the generation that did not bow down under fascist pressure, and also to the numerous patriotic Primorska priests who worked with and for the people – raising awareness of identity and not giving up their language. They were like rocks, imbued with the flickering flames of patriotism. Priest Alojz Kocjančič was also such a Čedermac.
You are cordially invited!
